ALABAMA — Alabama has announced that it will host the LSU Tigers in its first-ever SEC opener on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The Crimson Tide will open the 2017 season at LSU on Saturday night, Sept 16.
Alabama’s season opener is scheduled for 9:30 p.m.
ET, which will mark the start of a five-game stretch that features four road games against the Tigers.
It will be the Crimson Tide’s first home game since a 24-10 loss to LSU in 2017.
The Tigers (5-1, 3-0 SEC) will be coming off a 41-37 loss to Arkansas on Thursday night.
That was the Crimson Blazer’s sixth straight defeat to Arkansas.
The game will also mark the first time Alabama will face a team in the top 10 of the AP poll, which ranks the nation’s teams based on their overall strength of schedule.
The Crimson Tide currently sit at No. 5.
The 2017 season is expected to be the most important for Alabama since Nick Saban left for the NFL.
The Tide has not won a SEC opener since 2014.
The last time Alabama opened a season at home was in 2014, when the Crimson Birds lost 34-17 to Auburn in London.
